Andre Le Roes of Cooper & Westwood Advertising shares the exciting journey of building a successful business, from humble beginnings to advertising powerhouse.
Cooper & Westwood Advertising began with humble roots on the Gold Coast in 2005, founded by Andre Le Roes with his partner Yvette Rademan.
Initially offering graphic design solutions for local clients, the pair developed a reputation in the local market for a great product, hard work and excellent customer service.
Employing a team of local designers, Cooper & Westwood began working with larger and larger clients. The agency soon debuted on a global stage with its first international clients in 2010.
In early 2017, having seen the writing on the wall, CEO & founder Andre Le Roes introduced a digital arm to the business. This enormous shift saw the agency offering high end web design, custom application development, and performance marketing for it’s ever growing client list.
In mid-2020, following a strong financial year and rapid growth, Cooper & Westwood Advertising acquired an exciting young agency, Meerkat Social. Meerkat’s founder Liam O’Doherty joined Cooper & Westwood as a partner and General Manager for the agency, setting an exciting new direction for the business into the new decade.
Affectionately known by its clients as ‘Coops’, Cooper & Westwood now services over 200 clients annually with a world class team of locals and international staff. The company invests heavily in staff training, team culture and leadership to ensure the agency is among the most sought after on the Gold Coast and Australia.
Cooper & Westwood Advertising partners with marketing managers and local businesses to provide cutting edge marketing solutions in print, design, online, digital and social media.
Cooper & Westwood also invests heavily back into the industry, running an internship program designed to foster young talent in partnership with Study Gold Coast and Griffith University. In total, five students have completed this program with another currently enrolled. Three of these students have found full time roles within the agency.
Even in a COVID-19 world, Cooper & Westwood is anticipating strong growth into the new financial year and has big dreams for the agency and it’s team.
Andre takes a few minutes to share a little about himself.
1. Talk us through your ideal day off
I love a day at the beach followed by lunch at a Tavern. I also enjoy going for bush walks
2. What is your weirdest habit?
My weirdest one is I close all sliding doors. I have to have them closed. I don’t like seeing a gap for some reason.
3. What is the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done?
I agreed to walk the Kokoda Challenge. It’s 100 kilometers in the hinterland mountains.
4. Do you have a favourite quote?
“Hindsight is clear vision; foresight is wisdom.”
5. What part of your business have you successfully outsourced?
Bookkeeping.
